Thought of the Day June 8,2020



WEDNESDAY PRAYER WALKS
    I forgot to announce before our on-line worship Sunday that we will RESUME OUR WEDNESDAY PRAYER WALKS this week. We will meet at 8:15am Pavilion #3 as always for a short devotion and prayer and then take a walk remember your mask for the devotion time and to keep appropriate distance.

       For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21

        In our response to believing that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, we are call to follow in His footsteps. That means we are to love as Jesus loves and in doing that we will look for injustices and name them, and not only name them but work to correct the injustice that we see. If the injustice is hunger, feed the hungry, if the injustice is poverty give what is needed, and if the injustice is oppression, then work to find the cause of the oppression and end it.

John 13:34-35 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” There are many situations where people can question whether a person is what they present themselves to be. Someone could ask a person wearing a fire department t shirt, “do you fight fires, or just have the t shirt” . Or back in the day a magazine advertisement that I used to find funny was “Be a model, or just look like one”. I used to imagine using that phrase in other ways, like maybe “Be a mechanical engineer, or just look like one” for college recruitment. Ok now you know how weird my mind works. But how about when we wear a cross, or a shirt that has something about Jesus on it.
